With over 42 years of manufacturing experience in partnership with the Willibald company based in Germany, LIPA manufactures flail mowers and mulchers at their factory in Italy. All LIPA products are well designed, and manufactured using the latest CAD/CAM technologies, which include laser cutting and robot welders. All LIPA products use high quality materials which stand the test of time, in fact some customers have extensively used LIPA flail mowers and mulchers for over 25 years, only replacing flails/hammers and belts occasionally. LIPA has now manufactured over 25,000 flail mowers and mulchers worldwide, their quality and performance are hard to beat and they are priced less than many competitors.
Our company is Needham Ag Technologies, LLC. and we are based in Western Kentucky. We are the US distributor for LIPA and offer a range of different LIPA flail mowers and mulchers, in addition to most wearing parts and service items at our warehouse.
The Lipa TLJL range of heavy duty tractor mounted flail mowers (with side shift) are designed for many different environments, including orchards, vineyards or tree farms. This mower is designed to mow and mulch materials up to around 4 inches in diameter, leaving the fine material evenly distributed across the soil surface.
The TLJL flail mower range feature high quality construction, with heavy duty safety chains across the front and a and rubber flap at rear to help control flying debris. There is also a door at the back (see images) which opens when cutting tall/dense material or for inspection purposes. The range of TLJL flail mowers feature 18” of hydraulically adjustable side-shift (from center, to 18″ from center). This is achieved with a double-acting hydraulic cylinder (see images) which slides the headstock left and right on the upper tube. Heavy PTO shaft, hydraulic hoses and the pins to mount the mower to the tractor are all provided.
This TLJL flail mower also features heavy duty bearings at both ends of the rotor, in addition to both ends of the heavy duty steel roller at the rear of the flail mower to help control cut height and help keep the flails out of the soil. The steel roller is height adjustable and it features a scraper to help eliminate grass/mud accumulation when mowing in damp conditions. Finally, the TLJL series come standard with skids at both ends to help the mower follow the ground without digging.
The Lipa TLJL-220 flail mower weighs 1990 lb. and ideally requires 80-100 hp (the higher end of this range for taller/thicker material or higher forward speeds). The TLJL-220 has an 88″ cut width and an 94″ overall width. The mower features 15 heavy duty tri-tooth flails around the heavy duty 6.2″ diameter rotor, which is driven by 5 x heavy duty drive belts. This flail mower comes complete with a standard 3pt hook up and a heavy duty PTO shaft (with heavy duty shield). The TLJL mowers also come complete with both lower and upper pins, in addition to the hydraulic hoses (with protective covers) for the side shift function.

Always think safety when operating a flail mower! The TLJL flail mowers should ideally be used on tractors with fully enclosed cabs with a rear window, to help protect the operator from flying debris. Keep all spectators at least 150 feet away and always lower the flail mower down onto the ground and shut the engine off before working on, or making adjustments to the flail mower.
