Needham Ag NA 90 L Extended Wear Seed Boots replace John Deere part number N284025 (extended wear) or N284045 (standard wear).
Needham Ag NA 90 L Extended Wear Seed Boots are made from the same Chrome Alloy material that the John Deere extended wear boots are made from, and they both last around 2.5 times longer than the John Deere standard wear seed boots (part number N284045). So when the installation/removal time for standard wear seed boots is factored in, most growers buy the extended wear seed boots.
Needham Ag Seed Boots mount directly to the 60 and 90 series opener arms with no drilling or modifications required apart from the need to purchase of the Needham Ag 90 Series Seed Boot Bushing Kit With Bolt, even if you have a 60 series opener. (Seed Boot Bushings are REQUIRED and NOT SUPPLIED WITH THE SEED BOOTS. THEY NEED TO BE ORDERED SEPARATELY – SEE BELOW).
Please note, if your upgrading from the 2 piece 60 series boot to the Needham Ag seed boots, you will also need to purchase the steel seed tube to fit into the top of the seed boot. These are the same steel tubes that come with the factory 90 series seed boots and are available from John Deere dealers. Our NA 90 L and NA 90 R extended wear seed boots come pre-drilled for the Needham Ag bushings. So all you have to do is insert the bushings into the seed boot, align the seed boot flush against the disc and torque the grade 9 7/16″ nut on the grade 9 – 7/16” bolt. The seed boot then pivots towards and away from the disc on the seed boot bushings, which are pulled tight against the opener arm. No drilling is required to take care of most of the up/down play common in most used openers.
