Description
The Seed Brakes with baffles are designed to slow seeds exiting the scraper/boot, to help retain more seeds within the seed slot. This is especially important when seeding with wider air-seeders or when fertilizer is added with the seed (or both). These examples increase the air volume to convey the material, which often results in more seeds being blown out of the seed slot, especially smaller seeds. The seed brakes with baffles have 1.5mm holes, so they are recommended for use with small seeds, including Canola, Mustard and Radish, in addition to larger seeds such as Cereals, Soybeans and low rates of peas.
The Seed Brakes with baffles have been proven to improve seed spacing as a result of the angled baffle within the perforated seed brake. This is achieved by directing the seed around the inner radius of the seed brake, which helps disrupt clumps of seed.
Note:- If your planting large seeds like peas or chick peas, especially at rates which exceed 150 lb/ac of peas, especially on 10″ spacing (or wider rows), or when seeding faster than 6 mph with the larger seeds, please select the seed brake without the baffle.
The 1 1/4” seed brakes install easily on the Case-IH 500/500T and New Holland 2080/2085 air-seeders. The seed hose is removed from the top of the seed tube (on the top of the opener) by releasing the hose clamp. The seed brake is then attached with a hose clamp (supplied), then the seed hose is pushed 1 1/2” into the top of the seed brake and held in position with a 2nd hose clamp (supplied). The seed brake is curved as illustrated to allow the seed hoses to be routed around frame members.
