Stainless Steel Seed Brake for 1 1/4″ OD Hose (with baffle for air-seeders).

$30.00

Description

Needham Ag Stainless Steel Seed Brakes are designed to vent most of the air out of the perforated housing, and slow the seed velocity to minimize seeds being blown out of the seed slot. This is especially important when growers are seeding higher rates of seed, or banding fertilizer, as these require high fan speeds and air volumes to convey the material. Its even more important when banding fertilizer using wider seeders, where the fan speed requirements are the highest and the risk of seeds being blown out of the seed slot are the greatest.

The Needham Ag Seed Brakes are made from durable stainless steel and feature 2mm diameter holes which are designed to retain most seed types, all the way down to canola or rape. These Seed Brakes also feature an angled baffle, which helps reduce seed velocity and minimize seed bunching. Research shows they improve in-row seed spacing by over 2.0 standard deviation points (visit needhamag.com and select the seed brake section for additional statistical information for this product).

Growers claim they have reduced seeding rates when they added The Needham Ag Seed Brakes, because more seeds are placed within the seed slot.

The Needham Ag Seed Brakes are designed to fit on John Deere air-seeders, and other brands which use a 1″ ID/1 1/4″ OD secondary hose. This includes John Deere 1850, 1860, 1890, 1990 and 1895, in addition to the Case 500/500T and New Holland 2080/2085.

Needham Ag Seed Brakes are shipped with two heavy duty hose clamps.

NOTE, seed brakes with baffles are not recommended with high rates of peas or chick peas, such as rates of 200-250 lb/ac or more, on 7.5″ or 10″ spacing. If you plan to seed high rates of these crops, please select the seed brakes without the baffle.

IMPORTANT: When installing seed brakes on 1890 CCS and 1990 CCS AND the outer wings of the 50′ and 60′ 1890, the top flanges of the steel tubes (the ones above the seed boot) need to be cut off to allow installation of the seed brake directly to the steel tube. This is because sufficient vertical clearance is not available with these air-seeders when the seed brake is mounted on the 1.25″ OD hose. If you plan to use high rates of seed and fertilizer, this is the installation method we prefer.

These seed brakes measure 8″ x 4″ x 1.5″
