Heavy Duty Boot Spring

Description

Needham Ag Heavy Duty Boot Springs replace John Deere part number N284055 and they fit all 50, 60, 90 and ProSeries Seed Boots. They are zinc coated, to prevent corrosion and professional labs have determined they provide around 15-20% more seed boot tension against the disc, compared to John Deere OEM boot springs. This extra tension is important, especially when seeding into moist soils where wet soil can accumulate on the discs. The heavier duty boot spring helps keep the disc clean within these conditions and also extends it life.

Zinc coating is also important to prevent corrosion, as the John Deere OEM springs tend to corrode over time, (especially if the drill/air-seeder is placing fertilizer in the row), which causes a loss in tension over time and eventually breakage.

If your seed boots don’t “snap” firmly back against the disc after being pulled away, the boot springs should be replaced. If you have an air-seeder with wings that fold up, the springs should have enough tension to snap the seed boots against the disc, even when the boots are below the disc.
