With over 40 years of manufacturing experience in partnership with the Willibald company based in Germany, LIPA now manufactures high quality flail mowers and mulchers in their factory in Italy. LIPA products are well designed and manufactured using the latest CAD/CAM technologies, which include laser cutting and robot welders. All LIPA products use high quality materials which stand the test of time, in fact some customers have extensively used LIPA flail mowers and mulchers for over 20 years, only replacing flails/hammers and belts occasionally. The LIPA company has now manufactured over 20,000 flail mowers and mulchers worldwide, and their performance is hard to beat.
Our company is Needham Ag Technologies, LLC and we have been in business since 2006. Our company is based in Western Kentucky and we strive to offer the best product knowledge in the industry. We first purchased a Lipa flail mower for our own use in 2018, and became the US distributor in 2019. We offer a range of different LIPA flail mowers and mulchers, in addition to most parts at our warehouse.
The range of LIPA TLE-FL forestry mulchers are designed to fit excavators which weigh between around 12 and 20 tons, depending on the machines ability to handle this mulcher from a stability and hydraulic flow perspective.
This TLE-FL 130 mulcher is designed to mulch brush and trees up to around 6″ in diameter, within areas which are often dangerous or difficult with other types of mower. Greater diameter trees can be mulched with this model (especially if its soft wood), or if you lower the mulching head much slower.
The Lipa TLE-FL 130 mulcher weighs 1695 lb, has a 51″ cut width and requires around 24-26 gallons of oil flow per minute (at ideally around 4000 psi), but we require the rotor speed to be checked with a tach and the excavator flow be adjusted to obtain +/- 2300 rpm on the rotor.
The TLE-FL 130 has 30 fixed hammers and 5 heavy duty drive belts from the hydraulic piston motor down to the mulcher rotor. The high torque rotor turns around 2300 rpm and has a diameter of 13.5″.
The outside of the mulcher housing is made from high strength Domex steel, and the inner counter-frame is made from Hardox, a very wear resistant steel. The TLE-FL range of mulchers feature heavy duty bearings at both ends of the rotor for long life.
This TLE-FL 130 will require 3 hydraulic lines for the drive motor (a pressure line, a return line and a low-pressure return, also known as a case drain). The front door is operated with ideally a secondary auxiliary circuit, however, if a secondary circuit isn’t available, we do have an optional electric cab control box (see attached image) which uses a solenoid to take around 2 gallons per minute of oil flow from the rotor circuit to operate the front door (12V power comes from a lighter socket). IMPORTANT: This mulcher does not come with a dedicated hook-up to connect to your excavator, we prefer to discuss by phone or email ahead of purchase to make sure your excavator model hook-up is available, if not we have a local machine shop custom build them. This mulcher does not come with pins to mount to the excavator (you should already have pins to mount buckets on with, so you may be able to use the same pins). Lastly, this mulcher does not come with hydraulic hoses or hydraulic couplers, we recommend 4000 PSI hoses, with 3/4″ ID, with steel hose wrap. We can provide them, or you can source them locally.

Always think safety when operating a mulcher! Be sure to use the mulcher on an excavator with an approved forestry package to protect the operator from flying debris. Always keep spectators at a safe distance and always shut the engine down before working on, or making adjustments to the mulcher.
